The 2017 Jeep Renegade is a subcompact crossover SUV serving as the smallest vehicle in Jeep’s lineup. While it wears the iconic styling of the American brand—complete with a traditional boxy shape, round headlights, and a seven-slot grille—it has distinct international DNA. Built on a platform shared with the Fiat 500X, the 2017 Renegade was manufactured in Italy and features parts from both Chrysler and Fiat.

Jeep positioned the 2017 Renegade as a playful, city-sized vehicle for buyers who prioritize adventure styling and true trail capability over the standard commuter efficiency found in rivals like the Honda HR-V or Mazda CX-3. True to modern Jeep design, the vehicle is peppered with hidden visual details, including X-shaped taillights modeled after vintage military fuel cans and classic 7-slot grille graphics stamped into the interior panels.

The Latitude serves as a mid-level trim and adds premium convenience features over the base trim, including a touchscreen infotainment display, ParkView backup camera, Bluetooth streaming/hands-free phone capabilities, satellite radio, premium cloth bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, and heated side mirrors.

Power is delivered by a 2.4L Tiger Shark 4-cylinder producing 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, and routed to the front or all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transaxle linked to an electronic transfer case (Power Transfer Unit) with a Selec-Terrain dial which includes modes for sand, snow, and mud.
