The 2011 Acura RDX is a compact luxury crossover SUV known for its combination of car-like handling and turbocharged power. Positioned as a sporty, agile alternative to traditional, softer family crossovers, the RDX was created to capitalize on the massive success of the mid-size MDX, arriving as a tech-forward entry into the rapidly expanding premium compact crossover market.

The base RDX came comprehensively equipped as a single well-appointed model, featuring standard leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, keyless entry, cruise control, and an 8-way power driver's seat.

The Technology Package upgrades the standard interior into a high-tech cabin suited for audiophiles and tech-focused drivers, adding an Acura Navigation System with voice recognition and an 8-inch color screen, a 10-speaker, 410-watt ELS surround sound system featuring a 6-disc DVD-Audio changer, a review camera, AcuraLink real-time traffic and weather routing services, and GPS-Linked Climate Control that automatically adjusts dual-zone settings based on the sun's position.

The GPS-Linked Climate Control system utilizes real-time satellite navigation data and dashboard solar sensors to calculate the sun's exact angle and intensity relative to the vehicle. This allows the system to make automated, asymmetrical temperature and fan adjustments that counteract uneven heating and maintain uniform cabin comfort.

Utilizing Honda’s first turbocharged gas engine, the RDX is powered by 2.3-liter variable-flow turbocharged inline-4 generating 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to all four wheels via a 5-speed automatic transaxle with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters linked to a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system that actively distributes power between the front and rear axles, as well as between the left and right rear wheels, to drastically improve cornering agility and stability in bad weather.
