The 2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia is a limited-production, high-performance luxury SUV developed to commemorate Porsche's consecutive victories in the 2007 and 2008 Transsyberia Rally, one of the world's most demanding long-distance off-road competitions. The rally traversed thousands of miles across Russia, Mongolia, and Siberia, challenging competitors with extreme terrain, river crossings, and unpredictable weather conditions. Porsche's success with specially prepared Cayenne S rally vehicles demonstrated the capabilities of its all-wheel-drive platform and inspired the creation of a distinctive road-going commemorative edition. Based on the first-generation 957 Cayenne, the Transsyberia combined the enhanced powertrain of the Cayenne GTS with specialized off-road equipment and exterior styling derived from Porsche's competition vehicles. Production was exceptionally limited, with commonly cited figures of approximately 285 examples worldwide, including 102 for the United States.
Unlike the conventional Cayenne S, the Cayenne S Transsyberia was equipped with the more powerful 4.8-liter naturally aspirated DOHC V8 engine from the Cayenne GTS, producing 405 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered through a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and Porsche's sophisticated Porsche Traction Management (PTM) permanent all-wheel-drive system. Under normal driving conditions, the system distributes approximately 38 percent of engine torque to the front axle and 62 percent to the rear, providing rear-biased handling characteristics while retaining the traction advantages of all-wheel drive. An electronically controlled locking center differential automatically adjusts torque distribution according to available grip, while a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing provides additional capability for steep grades, loose surfaces, and difficult off-road conditions. A factory sports exhaust system featuring modified silencers and quad chrome-plated stainless steel exhaust tips provides a more pronounced V8 exhaust note while complementing the Transsyberia's performance-oriented character.
The Transsyberia was distinguished from other Cayenne models by its rally-inspired exterior treatment and specialized off-road equipment. Its distinctive Transsyberia graphics, contrasting exterior accents, and unique body detailingreferenced the appearance of Porsche's competition vehicles. Standard protective equipment included front and rear stainless-steel underbody guards, while the available Off-Road Technology Package could add further protection and a locking rear differential. The model also featured adjustable air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), allowing the driver to vary ride height and suspension characteristics according to terrain and driving conditions. Together with its low-range transfer case and locking center differential, these systems gave the Transsyberia genuine off-road capability beyond that of a conventional performance-oriented luxury SUV.
This particular example is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic with contrasting Crystal Silver Metallic accents, paired with a black leather and Alcantara interior. The Transsyberia's cabin incorporates distinctive sport-oriented materials and detailing, including supportive seating surfaces with Alcantara inserts and specialized trim inspired by the rally vehicles. Its exterior color combination offers a more understated alternative to the brighter contrasting finishes commonly associated with the edition, while retaining the model's recognizable Transsyberia styling. The vehicle rides on silver 18-inch Porsche split-spoke alloy wheels fitted with a matching set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 all-terrain tires.
Originally carrying an MSRP of $86,630, this example was ordered with an extensive selection of factory equipment. Its Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with navigation is complemented by a BOSE Surround Sound System, Bluetooth phone interface, XM satellite radio, and universal audio interface. Additional comfort and convenience features include a power moonroof, heated front seats, the Light Comfort Package with memory functionality, variable-assist power steering, and front and rear ParkAssist. Exterior and utility options include bi-xenon headlamps with washers, a black roof rail system, ski bag, and factory trailer hitch.
Accompanying this example are its original manufacturer literature and service records, providing additional documentation of the vehicle's equipment and maintenance history. Its limited production, distinctive competition-inspired design, GTS-derived V8 powertrain, and specialized off-road engineering distinguish the Cayenne S Transsyberia from the other variants of Porsche's original Cayenne lineup.
