The 2007 Honda S2000 is a high-performance, two-seat roadster developed to celebrate Honda's 50th anniversary and showcase the company's expertise in naturally aspirated engines, lightweight chassis engineering, and precision handling. Introduced in 1999, the S2000 was conceived as a purpose-built sports car rather than a performance derivative of an existing passenger vehicle. Its traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, rigid open-top chassis, and exceptionally high-revving four-cylinder engine established it as one of the most distinctive Japanese sports cars of its era. The 2007 model belongs to the updated AP2 generation, which introduced revised suspension geometry, improved chassis refinement, and a larger-displacement engine while preserving the original S2000's uncompromising driver-focused character.
Power is supplied by Honda's 2.2-liter naturally aspirated DOHC 16-valve F22C1 inline-four engine, producing 237 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with Honda's renowned VTEC variable valve timing and lift system, the engine delivers its peak power at 7,800 RPM and features an exceptionally high 8,000 RPM redline. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with a short, precise shift action and a mechanical limited-slip differential. The engine is mounted entirely behind the front axle centerline, creating a front-mid-engine configuration that contributes to the S2000's near-perfect 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. Combined with its approximately 2,855-pound curb weight, independent double-wishbone suspension, and responsive steering, this layout provides the balanced handling and immediate driver feedback for which the S2000 is widely recognized.
The S2000's cockpit was designed around the driver, featuring a compact digital instrument cluster with a prominent bar-graph tachometer, a centrally positioned push-button engine starter, and a short-throw manual gear selector. The dashboard incorporates driver-oriented audio and climate controls positioned within easy reach of the steering wheel, while deeply bolstered leather bucket seats provide support during spirited driving. Its power-operated convertible soft top features a heated glass rear window, allowing the vehicle to transition between enclosed and open-air driving. This example also includes a matching soft top boot cover for a finished appearance when the roof is lowered.
By the 2007 model year, the S2000 had received several refinements intended to improve everyday usability without compromising its fundamental sports-car character. These included Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), which can be manually disabled, along with standard high-intensity discharge xenon headlamps, keyless entry, cruise control, and 17-inch alloy wheels. This example is additionally equipped with an AM/FM stereo, CD player, SiriusXM satellite radio, power windows, and climate control. Showing only 35K miles, it rides on its factory-style 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with a matching set of Toyo Proxes Sport tires.
