The 2018 Maserati Levante S GranLusso is a high-performance luxury SUV that combines the Italian manufacturer's grand-touring heritage with the practicality and versatility of a modern sport utility vehicle. Introduced as Maserati's first production SUV, the Levante was developed to deliver the distinctive styling, performance, and driving characteristics associated with the brand's sports sedans and grand tourers. Built on an architecture related to the Ghibli and Quattroporte, the Levante features a longitudinally mounted engine, a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system, and a sophisticated suspension designed to balance long-distance comfort with responsive handling. Its exterior incorporates several traditional Maserati design elements, including the prominent trident grille, triple front-fender air vents, frameless side windows, and sculpted bodywork inspired by the company's performance cars.

Power is supplied by a Ferrari-developed 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 engine producing 424 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Developed through Maserati's longstanding engineering relationship with Ferrari, the direct-injected V6 delivers strong acceleration and a distinctive exhaust note, with the Levante S capable of accelerating from 0–60 mph in approximately 5.0 seconds. Power is distributed through Maserati's Q4 intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which operates primarily in rear-wheel drive under normal conditions and automatically transfers torque to the front axle when additional traction is required. A mechanical limited-slip rear differential further enhances traction and stability during acceleration and cornering. The Levante's near-50:50 weight distribution, low center of gravity, and electronically controlled chassis systems contribute to its unusually athletic driving characteristics for a luxury SUV.

The Levante S also features an advanced adaptive air suspension system with electronically controlled Skyhook dampers, allowing the driver to adjust ride height and suspension firmness according to road conditions and driving preferences. Multiple selectable ride heights provide additional ground clearance when needed, while lower settings improve aerodynamic efficiency and handling at higher speeds. The exterior of this example is finished in Champagne Metallescent, complemented by distinctive 21-inch staggered-width Anteo alloy wheels, Rosso-finished Maserati-branded brake calipers, and quad exhaust outlets.

As the luxury-focused counterpart to the sport-oriented GranSport, the GranLusso emphasizes sophisticated materials, comfort, and traditional Italian craftsmanship. Its interior incorporates premium leather upholstery, elegant trim finishes, and an extensive selection of convenience features, including a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Technology and driver-assistance equipment includes the Maserati Touch Control Plus touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.

The most distinctive feature of this example is its Ermenegildo Zegna Silk Interior Package, developed through a collaboration between Maserati and the renowned Italian luxury fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna. Drawing on Zegna's expertise in fine textiles and bespoke tailoring, the package incorporates specially developed automotive-grade silk fabric into the cabin, creating an interior treatment rarely encountered in production automobiles. This example features a striking combination of Cuoio leather and Grigio Zegna silk, with the silk material incorporated into the seat inserts, door panels, and headliner, complemented by coordinating leather upholstery and trim. The specially engineered silk fabric was developed to meet automotive durability requirements while retaining the texture and appearance associated with luxury Italian tailoring. Together with the Champagne Metallescent exterior finish, the Zegna interior gives this Levante S GranLusso a particularly distinctive specification.
